3.3.10. Pistons and rods


1. In four-cylinder engines remove the balancing device of the engine.
2. By means of the special tool remove a ledge in the top part of the cylinder, formed as a result of deterioration and adjournment of products of combustion. Do not try to get the piston, without having removed a ledge, differently you damage the piston.
3. Turn the engine, cranked shaft up.
4. With the help probeов measure a lateral backlash of rods. If the backlash exceeds admissible limits, it is necessary to replace a rod. At the occurrence, any doubts, address to experts.
5. If rods and covers of rods are not numbered, number them.
6. Loosen the nuts of everyone of rod covers in stages on a turn floor. Braid nuts, and uncover the first rod and the bearing loose leaf.
7. Remove the loose leaf of the bearing and get a rod together with the piston. Not to damage a neck шатунных bearings, put on bolts of rods hose pieces.
8. Remove other rods and pistons similarly.
9. Combine elements of each of pistons separately not to mix them.


1. Remove piston rings by means of the tool for installation of piston rings, try not to scratch the piston.
2. By means of a wire brush or a small emery paper clean a head of the piston from adjournment.

3. By means of the special tool or a slice of the broken piston ring clean flutes of piston rings.
4. After removal of all adjournment, clear pistons and rods solvent and dry up them.
5. If pistons and cylinder walls are worn out not strongly and cylinders have not been chiseled, new pistons are not required to be established.
6. Carefully examine all pistons on presence of cracks on a skirt of the piston and on a surface around шатунного a finger.
7. Examine pistons on presence of scratches, задиров, the scorched areas or corrosion.
