THE GENERAL DATA

The gauge of temperature of cooling liquid N1 (it is specified by an arrow) is located in a back part of a radiator.

In 6-cylinder models the gauge of temperature of a cooling liquid (it is specified by an arrow) is located on a thermostat casing.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If the cooling fan is not switched off, when the engine has cooled down, disconnect a wire from the temperature gauge of the fan and close contacts of a wire by a crosspiece. If the fan stops, replace the gauge.
2. Check up the gauge of fan N1 by means of an ohmmeter. When the engine cold, the gauge chain should be closed. When the engine разогрет, the gauge chain should be opened.
3. Check up gauge N2 similarly. The chain is opened if temperature more low 84 With and the chain is closed if temperature more than 90 with S.Pri necessities replace the gauge.
4. If the fan motor is faulty, to begin with, check up the fuse of the fan located under a cowl in the block of the relay and fuses. Disconnect a wire from the motor of the fan and connect contacts of the fan by means of adapters to accumulator plugs. If the fan still does not work, replace the motor.
5. If gauges are serviceable also the motor has passed check, means it is necessary to check up the fan relay, conducting and the electronic block of management.

Relay check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The relay block is located on the left side in an impellent compartment. If the car is equipped by a central air in the relay block there is relay N2 of the second fan, and in some models there is relay N3 (fig. the Block of the relay of the cooling fan – model Avalon see).
2. Remove relay N1 and check up it by means of an ohmmeter. The chain should be closed between contacts 1 and 2 (85 and 86 on firm Bosch relay) and between contacts 3 and 4 (30 and 87а 86 on firm Bosch relay). When on contacts 1 and 2 pressure of the accumulator moves, between contacts 3 and 4 chain should be opened.
3. If the relay functions regularly, remove the basic relay of the engine and check up it. The chain is closed between contacts 3 both 5 and contacts 2 and 4. The chain is opened between contacts 1 and 2. When pressure on contacts 3 and 5 moves, the chain 1–2 is closed, and the chain 2–4 is opened. If all relays work regularly, and the fan on the former does not function, address to the expert.

Replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a wire of the minus plug of the accumulator.
2. Disconnect a wire from the fan motor. Disconnect the wires fixed on a casing of the fan.
3. Unscrew bolts (are specified by arrows) and get a casing of the fan from engine branch.
4. Turn off a nut of the fan and remove the fan from the electric motor.
5. Unscrew bolts and remove the electric motor.
6. Installation is spent upside-down removals.
