THE GENERAL DATA

Considered cars are equipped by system of ignition without the distributor (so-called. DIS-system) in which one coil is necessary on two cylinders.

In DIS-system two-spark ignition is used. The spark appears simultaneously in two cylinders, the piston of one makes a compression step, and another – a release step. And, in the first of these cylinders capacity of the spark category much more exceeds capacity of the category in the second in which the spark is used only for reburning of the rests of not burnt down gas mixture. On engines V6 the spark is created in steams of cylinders 1–4, 2–5, 3–6, and in 4-cylinder – 1–4 and 3–2.

The structure of DIS-system of ignition includes gauges of rotation of a cam-shaft and коленвала, the processor (PCM-module), coils and the electronic module. The processor forms identification signals for each cylinder which start the electronic module switching the coils of ignition. The processor block automatically regulates the ignition moment in reply to the signals arriving from various gauges of the car. The electronic module distributes signals on corresponding coils and sets time of a delay before coil switching according to a current in a primary chain.

On engines V6 of a candle of the left head of cylinders are inserted directly into sockets on coils, and candles of the right head of cylinders incorporate to coils wires. On 4-cylinder engines of the coil are mounted near to a head of cylinders, candles incorporate to coils wires. The electronic module is mounted on engines V6 near to the main cylinder of brakes, under the assembly block of the relay, on 4-cylinder engines the module is built in in not folding image a casing of coils and varies together with them.


The prevention

At refusal of start-up of the engine do not leave ignition included for a while большее 10 minutes.


Connect a tachometre according to the instruction of the manufacturer. Some tachometres are incompatible with system of an electric equipment of the car. Before tachometre acquisition consult in car-care centre service.

Do not suppose a contact of conclusions of the coil of ignition with weight.

It is forbidden to disconnect the battery from weight on the working engine.

Constantly watch that the block of electronic ignition has been reliably connected to weight.

Check

If the engine is not started, and the starter rotates коленвал disconnect a wire from a candle of the left cylinder and connect to a test rated sportsman. The rated sportsman should be specially intended for DIS-system check.

Start the engine and check up spark presence.

If the spark is observed, turn out candles and check up their condition.


The prevention

On engine V6 for check be connected to the wires conducting to a back head of cylinders.


If the spark is absent, or искрообразование unstable check up pressure from the battery on each coil. If pressure is, check up resistance of windings of the coil.

For pressure check on the coil on the 4-cylinder engine disconnect a socket, include ignition and attach the voltmeter to a conclusion of 1 socket (check is carried out on the idle engine).

For pressure check on the coil on engine V6 disconnect a socket, include ignition and attach the voltmeter to a conclusion of 1 socket (check is carried out on the idle engine).

Check up gauges of rotation of shaft (subsection 7.2.10 see., subsection 7.2.11.).

Check up on coils a signal from the processor (on the 4-cylinder engine) or from the electronic block (on engine V6).

For this purpose on the 4-cylinder engine check up presence of pressure 5 In on a conclusion 3 sockets of the coil at the included ignition.

Check up also presence of fluctuating pressure 0,1–4,0 In on a conclusion 2 sockets (for this purpose the assistant should include a starter). If on sockets of coils pressure does not correspond to these norms replace or repair the processor block, otherwise 5 replace the coil with the electronic block.

On the 6-cylinder engine signal presence is checked by light-emitting diode connection on 12 In on a conclusion 2 sockets which should blink at starter inclusion. If the blinking is absent, check up the electronic block of ignition (subsection 3.4.8 see.).
