1.1.13.2. Forward pneumopillows of safety SRS

THE GENERAL DATA

Pneumopillows of safety SRS (additional system of deduction) are designed for maintenance to the driver and ahead sitting passenger of additional protection in addition to the basic protection provided with seat belts.

The pneumopillow of the passenger is put in action, even if on a forward seat there is no passenger. Be convinced, that the seat belt has been fastened properly.

The prevention

The driver or the passenger sitting too close to a steering wheel or an instrument guard, at надувании pneumopillows can be seriously injured, and the deadly outcome is not excluded. We urgently recommend the following:

– The driver should sit as it is possible further from a steering wheel, how much it is possible for normal driving.
– Ahead sitting passenger should be as it is possible further from an instrument guard.
– All passengers should be properly fastened seat belts.

This indicator is highlighted, if the ignition key will turn in position "ACC" or "ON". It dies away approximately in 6 seconds. It means that pneumopillows of system of additional deduction work normally.

This system of warning light signals supervises gauges of a forward pneumopillow of safety SRS, the device of gauges of a pneumopillow of safety, the delivery devices, warning light signal, system of connecting wires and power supplies.

The pneumopillow of safety SRS is designed for actuating in reply to strong forward blow within the shaded site between arrows in drawing.

There are cases when the pneumopillow of safety SRS does not work on such blow, however the passenger with the seat belt fastened properly will not get a serious trauma.

The pneumopillow of safety SRS will be developed, if the influence size exceeds a settlement marginal level, comparable approximately with direct collision with a motionless barrier which is not displaced and is not deformed at speed of the car of 25 km/h.

If the size of influence below the specified threshold level, a pneumopillow of safety SRS can not be developed.

However threshold value of speed will be considerable above if the car faces such object, as the parked car or a traffic sign which it can move or be deformed, or at the bottom collision (for example when the car redock "has got" under a truck body).

At collision on the verge of admissible level for sensitivity of gauges of system of pneumopillows can be that one of them will be developed only.

The pneumopillow of safety SRS is designed so that it will not be inflated, if the car is subject to a side-winder or behind if it turns over or will be involved in forward collision on low speed.

Pneumopillows of safety SRS can be developed in case of serious shock influence on the bottom party of the car. Some examples are shown in drawing.

The basic components of system of a pneumopillow of safety SRS

1. The forward gauge of a pneumopillow 2. Warning light signal SRS 3. The module of a pneumopillow for the passenger (a pneumopillow and the delivery device) 4. The device of gauges of pneumopillows 5. The module of a pneumopillow for the driver (a pneumopillow and the delivery device)

The device of gauges of pneumopillows consists of gauges of admissible influence and gauges of operation of pneumopillows.

In reply to strong forward blow gauges define delay of speed of movement and put in action delivery pumps of pneumopillows. Then chemical reaction in delivery pumps leads to instant filling of pneumopillows with nontoxical nitric gas to keep passengers from advance.

At filling of pneumopillows loud enough noise will be audible and the smoke with nontoxical gas will be allocated. This gas does not mean ignition. It harmless, but at at whom a gentle skin, it can cause its insignificant irritation. Do not forget to wash off the rests for prevention even small irritation of a skin.

Expansion of pneumopillows occurs in fractions of a second as the air cushion is inflated with great strength. While the system has the purpose reduction of serious damages, it can cause small burns, grazes.

Parts of the block of a pneumopillow (the steering wheel plug, an instrument guard) can be some minutes hot, however the pneumopillow will not be hot. Pneumopillows are calculated on unitary filling.

At strong enough collision at which pneumopillows will be filled, can break a windshield and coupling скобы the car. In cars with a pneumopillow for the passenger the windshield can be damaged also.

The pneumopillow system has the service warning indicator for informing of the driver on functional problems.

If will occur any of following actions, it means malfunction of pneumopillows. Address as soon as possible to dealer Toyota for car check.

The light indicator is not highlighted, when the ignition key turns in position "ACC" or "ON" or remains included.

The light indicator is highlighted during driving.

The prevention

In following cases address to dealer Toyota as soon as possible:

 – Pneumopillows of safety SRS were developed;
 – The car redock (shaded in drawing) has been involved in failure, but not to such degree that pneumopillows of additional system of deduction were inflated;
 – The section of a pillow of a steering wheel or a cover of a pneumopillow ahead of the sitting passenger (shaded in drawing) are scratched, have burst or are damaged.
