12.1.26. Safety pillows

THE GENERAL DATA

On all cars 2 pillows are provided, one of which (from outside the driver) is mounted in the central part of a wheel, and another – on the right side of the panel of devices. The system also includes the block of gauges and the management, mounted on the car centre before floor section.

The safety module from outside the driver

The module structure includes the packed pillow and the device forcings (reactor) which is under a pillow and is connected to it an aperture through which gas moves at signal receipt. The signal moves on a cable winded in a flexible spiral round a shaft of a wheel, irrespective of a wheel angle of rotation. The pillow is inflated with the nitrogen formed as a result of reaction oxide of copper and азида of sodium.

The safety module from outside the passenger

The structure of the module located over перчаточным a box, includes the device the forcings (reactor), the combined pillow, the reactor and the facing panel. A pillow of the passenger much more than a pillow of the driver. External furnish of a cover of a pillow coincides with furnish of the forward panel. In a cover the seam which breaks at gas forcing in a pillow is provided.

Lateral pillows are established on cars of 1998-99, they are in backs of seats from external edge. The gauge is mounted in a body, in the bottom part of a rack of a door.

The block of gauges and diagnostics

The block provides a food and operation of a pillow of safety even at the disconnected battery. The block checks a condition of system of safety. The control lamp of system (lamp AIR-BAG) at first lights up and at serviceable system dies away. If the system is faulty, the lamp continues to burn or blink (or the sound signal) is distributed. In this case it is necessary to hand over the car immediately in car-care centre for check.

The prevention

The neglect safety measures leads to casual disclosing of a pillow and to serious traumas.

At performance of any works near to a steering column or any unit of system it is necessary to disconnect safety pillows. For this purpose execute the following:

      – Expose wheels in driving position on a straight line and translate the ignition key in position LOCK;
      – Disconnect the battery from weight;
      – Start works after not less than 2 minutes, i.e. Through time necessary for the category of the condenser.

At manipulations with the pillow container always hold the revetted party of the container in a direction from itself. It is forbidden to put the container the revetted party downwards. It is forbidden to measure resistance of any unit of system of pneumosafety as operation of a pillow from an ohmmeter battery is possible.

Before performance of welding works disconnect a socket of a pillow of safety of yellow colour which is located under a steering column about a socket of a combination of switches (from outside the driver) or a box for trifles (from outside the passenger).

It is forbidden to throw out the container with a pillow.
